Lincolnshire’s first Menopause Cafe breaks taboos in city centre
Women and men of all ages attended Lincolnshire’s first monthly Menopause Café at Body Lipo Lincoln this week.
We set up the café to encourage women to have open and frank discussions about their experiences of the previously taboo subject.
It was fantastic to have so many women attend the first café and hear them talk honestly about their symptoms, share advice and stories.
With the Menopause Cafés, we want to build a community of women who can help one another through the next chapter in their life. Employers, colleagues and partners can all benefit from listening to how the menopause can impact our lives.
Mary Thorpe, who attended the café, said: “Sometimes you feel like you’re the only person going through the menopause, but today really shows how many other ladies are going through a similar experience. It was brilliant to be able to share how we’re really feeling with like-minded people.”
The Menopause Cafés were started in Perth in 2017 by Rachel Weiss of Rowan Consultancy and a number have been organised throughout the UK, including in some workplaces.
The Lincolnshire Menopause Cafés will be held on the first Tuesday of every month at Body Lipo Lincoln on High Street in Lincoln city centre. The next event will be on Tuesday 7 May 10am – 12pm and it is free to attend.
